Recognise & understand

My horse has a sensitive gut

Because a large part of digestion takes place in the gut, gut problems often affect overall health. With a sensitive gut, a calm, consistent ration is important. Large amounts of sugar and starch can upset the gut flora, while enough fibre actually contributes to healthy digestion.

That's why a stable ration with quality roughage is always the foundation. A healthy gut not only supports the digestion of nutrients, it also contributes to resilience, vitality and good condition. So it pays to look beyond the droppings alone and support gut health structurally.

Do you recognise this?
  • Inconsistent droppings or regularly loose droppings
  • Bloated belly or sensitive abdomen
  • Reduced resilience or difficulty keeping weight on
This is how you approach it

Calm in the ration, and changes in small steps.

Build up every change over several days and keep feeding times consistent. What a horse has to occupy itself with between meals counts just as much as what's in the bucket.
